Tarzana Treatment Centers Presents the 2026 Annual Latinx Mental Health Conference
“UNIDOS: The Power of Collective Care” provides culturally responsive education and five continuing education credits at CSUN.
NORTHRIDGE, CA, UNITED STATES, August 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- How can health and social service providers strengthen mental health support for Latinx individuals and their families?Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC) will host the 2026 Annual Latinx Mental Health Conference on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the University Student Union at California State University, Northridge. The in-person conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This year’s theme, “UNIDOS: The Power of Collective Care,” highlights how shared knowledge, cultural understanding, and community partnerships support mental health and healing.
Registration is now open.
A Professional Development Opportunity
The conference invites mental health professionals, health and social service providers, educators, advocates, and community leaders to join a day of culturally responsive learning, healing, and connection.
Attendees will explore culturally responsive strategies, build and strengthen community partnerships, and learn how to advance mental health support for Latinx individuals and their families. Five continuing education credits will be available.
Mental health does not exist apart from culture, family, community, and lived experience. Therefore, responsive care must recognize the identities, relationships, and social conditions that shape a person’s well-being.
The conference will provide space for participants to exchange knowledge and examine practical approaches to prevention, healing, mutual support, and collective care.
Featured Speakers and Sessions
The 2026 conference features seven speakers who present professional, personal, and community-centered perspectives:
• Ted Perkins: “How Movies Have Become a Secret Weapon in Mutual Support”
• Damaris Salvador: “Suicide Prevention in Latinx Communities”
• Sam Viloria: “Suicide Prevention in Latinx Communities”
• Dr. Matthew Blackwood: “Calm Is Power”
• Elizabeth Medellin, MSW: “Restoring Safety and Connection in Uncertain Times”
• Clinton Drummer: “Financial Healing, Family Stability, and Collective Care”
• Misty Farber, LCSW: “Unidos in Healing: Collective Care for Those Who Care”
The sessions will address suicide prevention, emotional regulation, financial healing, family stability, mutual support, and the well-being of caregivers.
Together, these topics convey the conference’s central message: Communities grow stronger when people share knowledge, reduce isolation, and build supportive pathways toward healing.
